Speaker endorses certificates on Minimal Retirement Age of Staff Invoice

Speaker of Parliament Mahinda Yapa Abeywardena has endorsed the certificates on the Minimal Retirement Age of Staff Invoice and the Termination of Employment of Workmen (Particular Provisions) (Modification) Invoice.

The 2 Payments had been taken up for debate in Parliament on November 11.

These Payments goal to increase the retirement age of private-sector workers to 60 years. There has not been a set retirement age for many workers within the non-public sector specifically.

Retirement of private-sector workers was typically based mostly on the phrases of the settlement between the employer and the worker.

Accordingly, the “Minimal Retirement Age of Staff” Act, No. 28 of 2021 and “Termination of Employment of Workmen (Particular Provisions) (Modification)” Act, No. 29 of 2021 will come into impact from immediately (Nov. 17), the Communications Division of the Parliament stated in an announcement.
