Airport customs apprehend overseas lady hiding cocaine in stomach

The officers of Sri Lanka Customs at this time (October 15) thwarted an try and smuggle cocaine into the island.

A Ugandan lady, who arrived in Sri Lanka from Doha by way of Qatar Airways, had been questioned by the customs officers on suspicion on the exit of the Bandaranaike Worldwide Airport (BIA) in Katunayake.

After subjecting her to safety scanning, the customs officers came upon that the lady in query is hiding narcotics in her stomach. The 45-year-old then divulged that she is hiding 100 tablets containing cocaine.

Investigations into the matter are being carried out by the Narcotics Management Unit of Sri Lanka Customs.

The suspect will likely be handed over to the Police Narcotics Bureau (PNB).
