Nallur Kovil Chief Incumbent passes away

The tenth Chief incumbent of the historic Nallur Kanthaswamy Kovil of Jaffna Kumarathasa Mappana Mudaliyar handed away on the age of 92 yesterday.

He served because the tenth incumbent of the historic Nallur Kanthaswamy Kovil succeeding his brother Shunmugathasa Mappana Mudaliyar in 1964.

Kumarathasa Mappana Mudaliyar had performed his function as a strict administrator of the temple and did a yeoman service in establishing the temple to the current state.

The funeral of Kumarathasa Mappana Mudaliyar will probably be held in Jaffna at the moment.

He will probably be succeeded because the eleventh chief incumbent of the Nallur Kanthaswamy Kovil by his son Kumarathasa Mappana Mudaliyar who’s a number one architect by career – AP
